Free health assessment for patients aged 45-49 at Eleanor Clinic
Perhaps your healthy habits have lapsed while juggling a career and children, or you’d simply like to continue feeling fabulous well into your fourth decade and beyond.
This health assessment is a great government funded initiative which offers patients aged between 45 and 49 the opportunity to have a once-off free health assessment. Statistically, between the ages of 45 and 49, people have a good chance of showing signs of the development of chronic disease. The aim of the health assessment is to assist with the detection and prevention of chronic disease and to enable early intervention strategies to be commenced as appropriate.
Who is eligible?
People aged between 45 and 49 years old who have one or more known risk factors to developing a chronic disease. Some risk factors include:
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol
- History of smoking
- High alcohol consumption
- Poor diet
- Extra weight
- Sedentary lifestyle
- Family history of disease
If you believe that you fulfill any of the risk factors above, speak to your GP.
What’s involved in the health assessment?
Our practice nurse will consult with you for 30-45 minutes and take a thorough history, update your medical history, check your blood pressure, BMI and provide information and advice related to your identified risk factors and create a strategy for you to manage your health. Your GP will collaborate with yourself and the practice nurse to develop the strategy and arrange any appropriate tests or referrals if required. Please allow up to 1 hour for your appointment.
What costs are involved?
There is no out of pocket cost for this once-off health assessment. Medicare Australia covers the cost of this initiative.
